These are my personal opinions based on my background and training experience.
I got an e-mail on Dec. 1st, 2020 from eLearnSecurity. I want to point out information that was included in the e-mail:
"Keep in mind by opting into this subscription, you will gain access to every cyber security learning path as well as unlimited lab time, but you will lose access to your training content and any lab hours within the eLearnSecurity platform. You will keep access to any paid-in-full exam vouchers within your eLearnSecurity Member’s Area."
"Don’t want to sign up for the INE Cyber Security Pass yet? No worries, the content you purchased will remain accessible to you in your eLearnSecurity account if you choose not to upgrade."
I don't like the idea of paying yet MORE money to have the access I currently have stripped from me (once my subscription runs out) just to get access to a few other courses that I didn't buy because I wasn't as interested in them or hadn't gotten around to purchasing them yet (and won't now).
I had some free time one night recently and went to the INE site to see if they had a class which might be useful to me. Between the fact that finding the link to click was a pain, and when I did click it and two browser windows opened, my tablet began to crawl horribly to the point it was almost not responding. So I tried to close the tab I was on, since I couldn't get any information off of it, and it wouldn't close. So I clicked the other tab, and it wouldn't close. So I switched to a non-INE related tab and was able to close the other two tabs without crashing my browser. I am still pretty much in denial that things are that bad with a company that I used to respect greatly. I thought the world of INE during my network engineering days. Maybe it is just growing pains, or maybe it was a fluke. Either way, for now, I will stop looking at any of their content and will take a break from them. I really expect this page to go away early in the new year because I feel it isn't as valuable to the red team community as it once was and there is a lot of other high quality training that is more user friendly.
I updated this on 24 November 2020. And since I hate being so negative about INE/eLearnSecurity, there is a positive I will mention. It seems that they are constantly posting their all access pass at discounted prices (which seems to be a good deal), but you might want to read that FAQ if you already have courses through the original eLearnSecurity.
